In what color is laminate flooring available?

Laminate flooring is available in every color and design you can imagine. Some homeowners prefer white laminate flooring while others prefer black laminate. Laminate hardwood is very popular, while laminate tile flooring is quickly coming on. All of these laminate designs have the same flooring composition and are made of several composite wood layers pressed together. The only difference? The design layer on the very top has a high definition 3D image imprinted to give your home that “wow” factor.

Should I choose laminate wood or laminate tile over the real thing?

It all depends on your priorities. Laminate hardwood is more durable than traditional solid or engineered hardwood. It is also more affordable for both materials and installation. However, unlike traditional hardwood, laminate wood cannot be sanded and repaired.

Similar to laminate wood, laminate tile is certainly less expensive than the real thing. It is also scratch resistant and easy to clean. However, laminate doesn’t hold up to moisture as well as real tile flooring. Thus, we don’t recommend installing laminate flooring in bathrooms.

Is laminate flooring waterproof?

The short answer is no. Laminate flooring is made from recycled hardwood and cannot withstand moisture buildup without incurring permanent damage. That said, as long as spills are cleaned up relatively quickly, laminate flooring will last you a long time. For bathroom flooring, we recommend real tile or even luxury vinyl tile. Both are more water resistant than laminate flooring.
